As tiny as The Netherlands may be, we are a
proud country, and it shows. Countless references to this strange lil' country
are used for jokes or other useful facts. Here are the ones I encountered, but
you can also submit your own if you come across one.
I have no idea how to sort it, so for now, I'll
just do it by date of discovery.
Here they are, there are just so many more, I just can't remember them all.
24-10-2002: The Bourne
Identity: An amnesiac Jason Bourne talks Dutch to himself in the mirror,
not knowing how he is capable of doing it. Several other tiny references throughout
the movie. Just a bit surprising.6.

03-10-2002: Austin Powers in Goldmember: Goldmember
is a Dutch villain but the Dutch people will not be very proud of this character.
However, it doesn't make the movie less funny.8½. Indeed
it's very funny, especially how Goldmember pronounces father as "fahsjer".
2002: The Agency
ep 106: A Dutch bank is transferring money to a Russian spy.1.
2002: Kevin Masters:
Former sitcom actor Tom Rhodes presents his own talk show with integrating
in Holland as the centerpoint. Lightly to mildly entertainig.7.
2001: Friends
season 8 episode: Ross tries to poll if the dying neighbour's appartment is
available (for Rachel to move into his block). He finds out she's Dutch, so
he starts practicing. We also find out Gunther speaks Dutch with a native
tongue. Extremely funny: 9+.
1998: Who Am I
- Filmed in Rotterdam, it's full of Dutch references. Even though some scenes
in Rotterdam are used in the South-African car chase. Shame on them. Just
nice: 7.
1994: Pulp Fiction
- John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson's characters discuss our Dutch habit
of having mayo on our fries.Pretty funny: 8.
