Upcoming Must-See Movies
As the title says, I'll be putting those
movies you just (with or without any valid reason) HAVE to see. You know, the
ones where the title alone will make your heard beat faster. Behind will be
a grade how much must-see I expect it to be. Movies in green are already filming/post-production
or have a green light by the studio. Yellow means
pre-production (only screenplay/cast/etc). Red
means rumors only.
You can also mail me your own Upcoming Must-See Movies (in the same format as
I did, I just might put it up here).
May 2003 (updated from: Undefined):
X-Men 2 - All major characters/actors had a clause for
a second installment in their contract. So, it's sure, it's just a matter
of time. Update: Finally got a date and a name (might not be the final name
though, coz it's kinda, empty), X2.9.
May 2003: The
Matrix Reloaded - Pushed back a few times. Hope this date is
final.10.
June 2003 (updated from: 2003):
The Hulk
- See above Marvel Comics comments. Excellent
director (Ang Lee) helming a somewhat CGI Hulk ? Let's hope they put a lot
of CPU power in him, 'cause who would want to see a stiff blocky robotic moving
Hulk.9.
Jul 2002: Terminator 3 - The Rise of
the Machines - Terminator 2 was a movie ahead of its times
with all those morphing special effects. Now those are made in abundance.
Can the story alone keep this series going (a T4 is being planned also) ?
Update: subtitle. Update: Arnold will be back, for probably 30 million bucks
(highest ever). No Linda Hamilton (Sarah Connor) or Edward Furlong (John Connor)
though.9.
nov 2003: The Matrix 3 - Let's see how Reloaded did first, shall we
?
nov 2003: Kill Bill- Martial arts actioner billed as the fourth
Quentin Tarantino movie. Using old style techniques to film the martial arts,
it'll be a visual delight, but can this hold up a movie ? 8+.
2003: The
Fantastic Four - They needs LOTS of special effects to make
this work ! But they pulled it off before, so no fear. Just anxiety.9.
2003:
Ghost Rider - Nicholas Cage could be cooler than Superman
in this movie. With a flaming skull he can ride on a flaming motorbike to
show off some Marvel Comics style.9.
2003: Iron
Fist - Ray Park (The Toad in X-Men, Darth Maul in
Star Wars) will star in this spiritual movie helmed by rising director Kirk
Wong (The Big Hit) who has yet to really prove himself.8.
2003: Indiana
Jones 4 - Only Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg. Maybe
a Sean Connery ? I certainly hope so.9.
Dec 2003: Lord
of the Rings: The Return of the King - THE must see movie of 2003
2005: Star Wars: Episode
III - A very good setup in episode II, definitely a breath holder.
How did they finally actually fare ?
Mar 2002: Blade
2 - An excellent stylish Blade made a first impression
of what Marvel Comics can do with movies. Hopefully a new director won't hurt
this franchise.9. Little bit below expectations. Fair
box office count.
May 2002: Star Wars: Episode II - Better hopes for this one, as Samuel L. Jackson
will be wielding a light sabre, and Anakin (now played by boy star Hayden
Christensen) promises to be less annoying. If only they could recapture the
previous trilogy's depth and character interaction, where the dialogue alone
was enough for the movie, and the special effects didn't really matter.8.
Better than the first one. Very
good B.O.
May 2002: Spider-Man - Can the Marvel Comics group keep up their marvelous
record track of stylish full stories coupled with awesome special effects
? Let's hope so. Director Sam Raimi adds hope, as his previous movies show
depth and well developed drama/story/characters.9+. Outstanding movie, well deserved
smashing box office count.
Jul 2002: Men in Black 2 - Probably just a fun movie.7. As expected, just fun, not any more
special than the first one. Good B.O.
Nov 2002: Harry Potter 2: The Chamber
of Secrets - While the first movie was a hype, I totally
went by me, coz I didn't read the book, and had no idea it was that big a
hit. The movie surprised me on its own. My hope is that this will be even
better, coz there are some points it could improve.8+. Tiny bit better than the first one.
Slightly worse B.O. than the first one.
2002: Star Trek: Nemesis - As a Star Trek fan, whud can I say ? Just anxious
how this 10th installment will hold up. Even
numbered movies have so far been the best, so, fingers crossed.9. While personally feeling this was
a smashing hit, the B.O. was horrible.
2002: Final
Destination 2 - Tough to follow up a surprise hit. How to keep
it original ? 7. Have no idea, kinda degraded to
a B-movie, hence, not seen, no comment.
26th Dec 2002: Lord of the Rings: The
Two Towers - See above. Let's see how the hype holds up
after the first movie is released. Incredible movie, with an incredible
B.O.
2003: Daredevil
- Matt Damon in a tight red outfit, I'm not sure
what to think. Let's hope he finally plays a more believable character than
his previous movies.7. It turned out to be Ben Affleck
in a tight red outfit. Fair B.O. for a fair movie..
